Once again Santa from Finland attracted several million people in China just before Christmas 2011, when Santa was introduced simultaneously in twenty-one Chinese cities and at all twenty-nine Wanda Plaza department stores.
According to our information, nearly eight million people attended the three Santa Claus Days held between the 23 and the 25 of December at all of the twenty nine department stores. According to Wanda Plaza estimates, the campaign that lasted the whole of December had dozens of millions of visitors. Held for the first time in December 2010, The Santa in China campaign attracted 15 million visitors to the Wanda Plaza department stores, which broke all earlier records.
Finland and the Finnish Santa also got wide visibility in the Chinese media. Santa’s visits to the orphanages were particularly memorable. The cultural exchange related to the Santa in China production has also been widely noticed. Among three top artists, the Chinese voted a piece called Believe by a Finnish band Negative for the seasons greeting song.
